Westminster Residents Displaced by Fire

Six individuals, including two children, have been displaced from their home in Westminster following a fire that broke out on Saturday night. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 9000 block of Tropic Drive, located to the north of the Little Saigon area. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with local authorities working to determine how the incident started. The Westminster Fire Department was alerted and responded swiftly to manage the situation.

Details of the Fire Incident

Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders found significant flame and smoke activity. In conjunction with the Westminster Fire Department, personnel from the North Metro Fire Rescue District also participated in fighting the fire and ensuring resident safety.

This event follows another residential structure fire that occurred in Westminster just two days earlier, on May 2, 2025, at 3:25 a.m. in the 9000 block of Cody Ct. Here, an attached garage was reported fully engulfed in flames upon firefighters’ arrival. Fortunately, the residents successfully evacuated the home prior to the emergency services’ arrival, thanks in part to their dog alerting them to the danger.

Fire Control Measures Implemented

Responders from Medic 3 discovered the active fire immediately and took decisive action. Engine 5 was deployed for fire control and reported flames and smoke emanating from the Bravo side of the one-story residence. Battalion 1 assumed command of the operations, coordinating the various units on the scene.

Subsequent actions included Engine 2 securing a water supply for Engine 5 while Truck 2 conducted a primary search of the premises, ensuring the safety of any remaining residents. The fire was effectively brought under control by 3:48 a.m., successfully containing it to the garage area without further spreading to the rest of the house.

Response and Aftermath

In total, numerous units responded to the fire, which included Westminster’s Battalion 1, SAM 1, Medic 3, Engine 5, Engine 3, Engine 2, Medic 2, and Truck 2, as well as North Metro’s Battalion 61, Engine 61, and Engine 65. Residents benefited from the center’s preparation and the efficient response of the emergency services involved.

Fortunately, working smoke alarms were activated when smoke entered the living areas of the home, contributing to the early evacuation of occupants. The coordinated response from the various fire units helped ensure that, although six residents have been displaced, there were no injuries resulting from these incidents.

Community Impact

The ongoing investigation into the fire at Tropic Drive seeks to uncover the potential cause and provide insights that may prevent future incidents. As authorities continue their work, the community has rallied in support of the displaced family, with outreach efforts aimed at providing assistance during this difficult time.

As updates regarding the investigation become available, community members are encouraged to remain informed and prepared to assist fellow residents in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as this fire.
