Teamwork is key in heavy civil construction projects.
Sukut Construction has appointed Lawrence Damore as vice president of alternative delivery and promoted Ryan Prokop to vice president of energy. These changes reflect the company’s commitment to enhancing operational capabilities and market growth in the sectors of alternative delivery and energy. Damore brings over 30 years of experience, while Prokop will oversee the pre-construction process for the energy division. Both appointments emphasize Sukut’s strategy of promoting talent internally and fortifying its structure to address challenges in the construction industry.
Santa Ana, California – Sukut Construction, a leading heavy civil contractor in the United States, has announced the appointment of Lawrence Damore, P.E., as vice president of alternative delivery and the promotion of Ryan Prokop to vice president of energy. These moves reflect Sukut’s dedication to enhancing project expertise, operational capabilities, and market expansion in the vital sectors of alternative delivery and energy.
Lawrence Damore boasts over 30 years of construction experience in California, having begun his career at Sukut in the mid-1990s. During his initial tenure, he collaborated on the Eastern Transportation Corridor as part of a joint venture. Damore has a proven track record of involvement in numerous significant public works projects, including the reconstruction of Interstate 5 in Orange County, the construction of Routes 210 and 905, the acclaimed Gold Line Bridge in Arcadia, and the early phases of the Sixth Street Viaduct in Los Angeles.
After rejoining Sukut in the mid-2000s as a project manager, Damore successfully delivered the Pelican Hill Resort infrastructure project in Newport Beach. His expertise was recognized as he transitioned to vice president of public works in 2021. In his new role, he will oversee procurement and construction methodologies, including design-build and CMGC, for both public and private clients.
Before entering the construction industry, Damore served as a U.S. Army engineer officer, where he was known for managing complex projects and building effective teams. His extensive experience and leadership capabilities will be crucial as Sukut aims to strengthen its position in the alternative delivery arena.
Meanwhile, Ryan Prokop is set to lead the complete pre-construction process at Sukut, encompassing bidding, estimating, and contract negotiations. In his current role, he is also responsible for business development and will oversee operations that define the future direction of Sukut’s expanding energy division.
Prokop has accumulated over 20 years of industry experience, beginning his career as an intern and advancing through various positions, including project engineer, project manager, lead estimator, and, most recently, vice president. Since joining Sukut in 2015, he has significantly contributed to developing the company’s energy work estimating processes, positioning Sukut for growth in this sector.
These leadership changes exemplify Sukut’s commitment to promoting talent from within while strategically aligning experienced professionals in key roles. Both Damore and Prokop are recognized for their leadership skills, technical expertise, and ability to deliver value at every phase of a project, reinforcing Sukut’s standards of excellence in the construction industry.
The appointments of Damore and Prokop not only bolster the executive team at Sukut Construction but also signify a strategic move toward reinforcing the company’s capacity to meet the ever-evolving challenges in the construction sector, particularly within the realms of alternative delivery and energy.
As Sukut navigates the complexities of these important markets, both leaders are expected to play pivotal roles in steering the company toward future successes, allowing Sukut to remain a mainstay in the competitive landscape of heavy civil construction.
