Irvine – Five suspects have been arrested in connection with a transnational organized crime ring following a burglary that occurred on Easter Sunday, April 20, in Irvine. The investigation began when a resident reported suspicious activity detected by his home surveillance system, leading police to uncover a theft involving high-value items.
The resident, Guolin Wang, became suspicious after receiving alerts from his security system around 1:45 p.m. He discovered unknown individuals inside his home on Cultivate, prompting him to call the Irvine Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found the residence ransacked, with numerous items, including designer purses, shoes, and jewelry, reported stolen.
Surveillance footage revealed critical details of the crime. A woman was seen ringing the doorbell holding what looked like a food delivery bag. Shortly thereafter, three individuals, one appearing to wear a delivery worker vest, were captured on camera fleeing the scene with a suitcase and backpack. The suspects escaped in a white SUV before law enforcement arrived.
As officers patrolled the area, one spotted a vehicle leaving the vicinity that matched the description of the suspects’ getaway car. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver, identified as 24-year-old Jhon Osorioarias from Fontana, claimed he was delivering food but could not provide a delivery address. During the search of his vehicle, police uncovered suspicious items that suggested he may have been involved in criminal activity. Osorioarias was subsequently arrested for being an unlicensed driver. Further investigation revealed connections to an organized burglary crew.
In the following month, the Irvine Police conducted extensive surveillance of Osorioarias and his crew, uncovering links to several burglaries across Southern California. This lead culminated in coordinated arrests on Thursday, May 15, in Fontana, supported by the Irvine Police Department’s drone team and Real Time Crime Center.
The additional suspects arrested were identified as:
– Jesus Hernandezchavez, 42, of Fontana
– John Fredy Sanabria, 42, of Fontana
– Duber Salarte, 48, of Fontana
– Isneidy Ortiz Valencia, 29, of Colton
All five suspects have been booked into the Orange County Jail facing various charges, including burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and possession of narcotics. In the course of the investigation, search warrants were executed in Fontana and Colton, which led to the recovery of substantial evidence linking them to the Irvine burglary.
The police discovered hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen property, which included cash, jewelry, designer handbags, and firearms. Investigators suggest that this crew may be connected to at least five additional burglaries within Southern California, highlighting a growing trend of organized burglary crews targeting affluent communities.
The Irvine Police Department emphasizes that these organized burglary crews present an increasing threat, often moving rapidly from one location to another, making it crucial for residents to be vigilant and security-conscious.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding this case to reach out to Detective Jeff Hause at the Irvine Police Department, as their ongoing efforts seek to dismantle such organized crime rings from operating within the community.
