Orange County Police Arrest Three Women for Theft and Burglary

Three women were arrested in Orange County, California, after police discovered over $12,500 worth of stolen merchandise. The arrests occurred following an alert from license plate readers on June 30, which led officers to link the suspects to a retail theft incident.

The situation unfolded when Irvine police received a notification about a van associated with a theft at an Ulta Beauty store in Los Angeles. Officers began tracking the vehicle as it left the Alton Square shopping center. The suspects later abandoned the van in a nearby neighborhood and attempted to flee on foot. Body camera footage documented the police as they pursued the women through the area, leading to their eventual capture.

Authorities reported that the stolen merchandise originated from multiple retail stores across Irvine, Santa Ana, and Costa Mesa. Following their apprehension, all three women were booked at the Orange County Jail on various charges, including organized retail theft, grand theft, and burglary.

ATM Thefts Plague the Region

In a separate but related series of incidents, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a worrying trend of ATM thefts that have occurred since May. Criminals have been targeting vans, including those belonging to churches, to pull ATMs from public locations. On July 4th, suspects were caught attempting to steal an ATM from the Coin Laundry Cafe on Curry Ford Road.

Surveillance footage from the laundromat captured images of a stolen van dragging the ATM out of the business. A helicopter deployed by the sheriff’s office tracked the suspects as they fled the scene. Deputies laid down stop sticks to halt their escape, which resulted in the van running over the spikes. Although the suspects attempted to continue their escape, they ultimately collided with a semi-truck. They then tried to flee on foot before being apprehended by law enforcement.

The arrested individuals included 24-year-old Rodrigue Jean Jules, 28-year-old Tenkamein Akeem Beacham, and a 17-year-old minor. A subsequent search of one suspect’s residence led to the discovery of three firearms, including a stolen Colt AR-15 rifle. The suspects were charged with multiple offenses, including grand theft and burglary, and are facing serious legal consequences.

Community Concerns Amid Rising Theft Incidents

Experts have raised alarms regarding the implications of such crimes that extend beyond financial losses. The surge in thefts raises concerns around public safety and security, prompting residents and business owners within the community to express their worries about these rising incidents.

The ongoing investigation into the ATM thefts suggests that there may be the potential for additional arrests and charges in connection with these crimes. Law enforcement officials are committed to addressing the issue and ensuring the safety of residents in the region as they work to combat the recent spike in thefts.

As the situation develops, community members remain vigilant, and local authorities continue to monitor the rise in theft incidents within Orange County.
