Orange County Cities Prepare for Safe and Sane Fireworks Sales and Celebrations for July 4, 2025

As the Fourth of July approaches, twelve cities in Orange County are gearing up for celebrations that include the sale and use of safe and sane fireworks. This year, the city of Orange joins the ranks of these cities by allowing state fire marshal-inspected fireworks to be sold, marking a significant change in local policy.

Cities across the county permit community and school organizations to set up fireworks booths as a form of fundraising, typically allocated through a lottery system. While most municipalities restrict the lighting of fireworks to July 4, several cities start the discharge days earlier.

Fire officials are reminding residents to use caution around fireworks and strongly advise against tampering with them. Additionally, parents are cautioned against allowing children to handle fireworks, and significant fines can be expected for those caught using illegal fireworks.
