Orange Coast College Softball Team Completes Best Season Since 1993 with State Championship Berth

Orange, California – The Orange Coast College (OCC) softball team has wrapped up a historic season, finishing with a remarkable record of 33 wins and 9 losses, marking the best performance in over 20 years. Their success includes a coveted spot in the 3C2A Softball State Championships, the first in the program since 1993. The Pirates proved to be a formidable team this season, clinching the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) with a record of 15-3.

Star player Jasmyn Morales was instrumental in the team’s success, earning recognition as the Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year and securing a place on the 3C2A South All-State Team. Morales topped the conference in home runs and was a standout contributor in runs batted in, slugging percentage, and extra base hits. Other key players included Mackenzie Koshi, who was honored with the 2025 Cal JC Rawlings Gold Glove Award for her excellence at second base, boasting an impressive .983 fielding percentage.

Additionally, Kelsey McNair was selected to the 3C2A All-Southern Team, leading the Pirates with a .405 batting average and a 0.90 earned run average (ERA) on the mound. Daniella Sanchez, also part of the 3C2A All-Southern Team, had an outstanding season with a 13-1 record and an ERA of 2.23. Other team contributors included Olivia Pedraza, Isabel Lopez, and Reyna Hernandez, who were recognized on the All-OEC Second Team.

This season was also marked by a co-conference championship victory celebrated on April 24, 2025. The team demonstrated impressive resilience throughout the playoffs, achieving significant wins against rival teams like Fullerton College and Mt. San Jacinto. Freshman pitcher Daniella Sanchez and sophomore pitcher Ruby Fidge played pivotal roles in limiting runs during crucial playoff series outings, solidifying the team’s defense.

As the Pirates prepare for the upcoming 3C2A SoCal Super Regionals playoff round, they are set to face Fullerton College once again, with aspirations for a successful run to the state championship in Santa Rosa, California. The team, under the guidance of head coach Jodie Kiaha, has showcased extraordinary dedication and commitment throughout the season, standing as a testament to their hard work.

The OCC softball team’s remarkable achievements highlight the program’s potential for continued success in the future and serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes within the college community. The outstanding performance of multiple players and the milestones attained this season are indicative of the team’s hard work and the support from the college and fans alike.
