The Newport Beach International Boat Show took place from May 1 to May 4, featuring luxury yachts like Glidewell’s Unbridled and Serengeti. With 200 vessels and culinary delights from local restaurants, the event attracted around 20,000 attendees, showcasing the best of the boating lifestyle.
Newport Beach, California, made waves from May 1 to May 4 as the Newport Beach International Boat Show attracted hundreds of attendees, showcasing a stunning array of luxury vessels and recreational watercraft. Among the highlight exhibitors, James Glidewell, owner of Glidewell, a prominent dental implant and products manufacturing company, displayed two prestigious yachts with a combined listing price nearing $31 million.
Glidewell’s featured yachts included the impressive 191-foot Unbridled, listed for nearly $23 million, and the 130-foot Serengeti, available for almost $8 million. The Unbridled offers approximately 15,000 square feet of luxurious accommodations, allowing it to host 16 guests alongside a dedicated crew of 13 members. Currently, the Unbridled is gearing up for its first charter to Alaska after having been docked on the East Coast, with summer charter rates set at $230,000 per week plus expenses. Meanwhile, the Serengeti can accommodate 12 guests and has an 8-person crew, also presenting charter availability at a rate of $150,000 per week.
Both yachts have been intermittently on the market over the past two years and have been subject to price reductions. Glidewell himself has owned nearly a dozen yachts throughout his life and has shared insights about his experiences with his fleet in various trade publications. Glidewell expressed that his passion for boating primarily centers around family enjoyment and the unique opportunities it provides in exploring different destinations.

The event sought to provide attendees with an encompassing experience into the boating lifestyle, featuring culinary offerings from local restaurants such as Nobu and Fable & Spirit, alongside a variety of luxury yachts and recreational boats.
Organizers anticipated that approximately 20,000 attendees would visit the boat show during its four days, with ticket prices set at $30 for daily admission or $80 for a weekend pass. A special VIP party was hosted on opening day, allowing guests to enjoy cocktails, gourmet hors d’oeuvres from Nobu, and live music for a ticket price of $145. Temporary docks were installed in Newport Harbor specifically for the event, facilitating an enhanced viewing experience.
