A 20-year-old man from Costa Mesa is currently in critical condition following a motorcycle accident that occurred on Friday, May 16, 2025. The collision happened shortly after 1 p.m. in the 12500 block of Magnolia Street, Garden Grove, when the motorcyclist was struck by a northbound pickup truck.

The motorcyclist, who was riding a 2018 Aprilia RSV4, was traveling south on Magnolia Street when a 2023 Chevy Silverado attempted to turn left onto Lampson Avenue and collided with him. Witnesses to the incident quickly alerted the authorities upon discovering the motorcyclist unresponsive.

Emergency personnel from the Garden Grove Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene and initiated life-saving measures. The victim was subsequently transported to a trauma center, where he is being treated for critical head and facial injuries.

As of the latest information, the identity of the injured motorcyclist has not been released to the public. In contrast, the driver of the Silverado, a 46-year-old resident of Garden Grove, remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Reports indicate that the driver did not sustain any injuries from the accident.

Following the incident, southbound lanes of Magnolia Street and the lanes on Lampson Avenue were closed for several hours to facilitate an investigation. Preliminary analysis suggests that impairment was not a factor contributing to the collision, and no charges have been filed against the pickup truck driver as of now.

The motorcyclist remains hospitalized, in critical condition, three days following the accident. The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing, and authorities are actively seeking additional information.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has video footage to come forward. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact Investigator John Yergler at (714) 741-5772 or Johny@ggpd.org.
