Irvine – As Mother’s Day weekend approaches, local restaurants and community events are gearing up to offer a variety of unique celebrations. From culinary experiences to cultural activities, there are plenty of options for families to honor their moms on this special day.
Robata Wasa at the Irvine Spectrum Center is highlighting a three-course Mother’s Day culinary journey priced at $55. Patrons can start their meal with either spicy tuna crispy rice or a shiitake mushroom salad. Main course selections will include miso black cod or mentaiko shrimp pasta. For dessert, guests can choose between yuzu flan or matcha panna cotta. To complement the meal, a special yuzu sangria will be available.
At The Market Place, Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen will feature a Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch that includes bottomless mimosas for $18. Two-course specials are offered at $35, with the first course option of pozole verde and various entrée selections such as braised short rib chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, wild mushroom tacos, and crab and shrimp enchiladas. Live music will enhance the brunch experience from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Georgia’s at the Irvine Spectrum Center is offering a special menu filled with traditional Southern dishes, including buttermilk fried chicken and blackened catfish. This Mother’s Day menu features unique items such as shrimp and grits and a Mardi Gras omelet. Additionally, families can order a special family bucket that includes eight pieces of chicken, eight fried catfish, cornbread muffins, and two sides, while moms will receive their first mimosa complimentary.
The local food scene is also seeing new additions. Gelatissimo, a gelato shop, has opened at University Center, and Bag of Cakes, known for its preservative-free pastries, is set to launch a new location. Galpão Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse is another option, where gaucho chefs will carve 18 grilled selections tableside, including a luxurious 24-karat Golden dish. Pepper Lunch is introducing a unique teppanyaki experience, allowing customers to cook their own meals.
In addition to dining options, various free community events are planned for Mother’s Day weekend. The Riverside Library will host a card-making event on May 9, while the Lakewood community celebrates with the Pan American Fiesta from May 8-11, featuring music and food. An arts and crafts event will take place at the GEM Community Center in Rancho Cucamonga on May 10, and Catholic cemeteries will hold Mother’s Day Rosary events on the same day. Additionally, mothers can enjoy free entry at Claremont’s California Botanic Garden on Mother’s Day, and a special opening event will be held at the SuihoEn Japanese Garden in Van Nuys on May 11.
