Laguna Beach is preparing to stage August Wilson’s renowned play ‘Fences’ from April 30 to May 18, 2025, at the Laguna Playhouse. Directed by Yvette Freeman-Hartley, the play tackles themes of personal struggle and family dynamics through the life of Troy Maxson, a former baseball player in 1957 Pittsburgh. Laguna Beach is set to host a staging of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Fences” from April 30 to May 18, 2025, at the Laguna Playhouse. The production will explore the life and struggles of Troy Maxson, a former baseball star turned garbage man in 1957 Pittsburgh, amidst themes of familial disappointment and personal turmoil.
The director, Yvette Freeman-Hartley, is recognized for her previous acclaimed works, including “Ain’t Misbehavin'”. The production’s cast features Tamarra Graham as “Rose Maxson”, Boise Holmes as “Jim Bono”, Corey Jones as “Troy Maxson”, and Amari McCoy as “Raynell Maxson”, along with other talented actors.
