Costa Mesa High School and Estancia High School held graduation ceremonies for their Class of 2025, showcasing the hard work and dedication of their students. Costa Mesa featured 275 graduates, while Estancia celebrated 243. The events highlighted inspiring speeches, impressive academic achievements, and the excitement of the graduates as they prepared for their next steps, whether in college, trade school, or military service. Scholarships awarded to students also underscored the educational excellence both schools aim to uphold.
Costa Mesa High School hosted its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 on June 5, with 275 graduates walking the stage to receive their diplomas at Mustang Field. Family and friends gathered to celebrate this significant milestone, witnessing the culmination of their academic journeys.
The graduation ceremony featured inspirational remarks from student speakers Ian Encarnacion and Charisma Fetalaiga-Mene, who encouraged their peers to embrace the next chapter of their lives. The ceremony was further enhanced by performances from the CMHS Band and Madrigal Singers, providing a festive atmosphere for the celebration.
Graduates marked the occasion by tossing their mortar boards into the air, symbolizing the end of high school and the beginning of their futures. Principal Dipali Potnis commended the Class of 2025 for their support of one another, emphasizing their introspection and academic accomplishments throughout their high school years.
As these graduates take their next steps, approximately 29% plan to attend four-year colleges, while 65% will enroll in community colleges. Additionally, nearly 3% of students will pursue trade school, and 2% are enlisting in the military. The dedication and hard work of the graduating seniors paid off as they collectively earned $220,000 in scholarships, not including potential full-ride awards.
On the same day, Estancia High School celebrated its own Class of 2025 graduation ceremony at Jim Scott Stadium, featuring 243 graduates. The ceremony included motivational speeches delivered by Principal Mike Halt and students Charlie Sabori, Jose Gomez, and Mario Solis, who motivated their classmates with reflections on their shared experiences.
Students from Estancia also displayed impressive academic achievements, as 65% of graduates plan to enroll in two-year colleges, while 25% intend to pursue four-year degrees. Among the graduates, three students have committed to enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, reflecting a sense of service among the cohort.
This year, fifty students from Estancia earned a total of $50,000 in scholarships, which highlights the academic excellence of the school. Julie Ortega Avila stood out as the first student to complete coursework in two separate Career Technical Education pathways, showcasing her dedication and ambition.
Additonally, a record 57 students, nearly 24% of the graduating class, earned the State Seal of Biliteracy, recognized with a gold seal on their diplomas, marking a significant achievement in language proficiency.
Both Costa Mesa High School and Estancia High School proudly celebrated their 2025 graduates, who are now prepared to embark on new journeys. With a blend of academic goals, service opportunities, and a commitment to continued education, these young adults are eager to make their mark in the world.
