Families enjoying rides and live music at Fountain Valley Summerfest

News Summary

The Fountain Valley Summerfest is returning with a weekend packed with rides, live music, and fireworks, running from Thursday to Sunday at the Fountain Valley Sports Park. Since its debut in 2009, the festival has become a community favorite, drawing thousands of attendees and promising an array of attractions. This year, guests can enjoy special discounted rides, diverse performances, and local talent showcased on the community stage, ensuring fun for families and strengthening community bonds.

Fountain Valley

The highly anticipated Fountain Valley Summerfest kicks off this weekend, running from Thursday, June 13, to Sunday, June 16, at the Fountain Valley Sports Park. This annual event promises a weekend filled with rides, live music, and fireworks, making it a central highlight for local residents and visitors.

Debuting in 2009, the Summerfest has become a staple of the community, generally occurring during the third week of June. Following a successful return in 2021, which drew over 21,000 attendees as one of the first large gatherings post-COVID-19 lockdowns, expectations are high for this year’s event. With moderate temperatures predicted to stay in the low 70s, organizers anticipate a strong turnout.

Event Highlights

A variety of attractions and performances will take place throughout the festival. On Thursday night, a special discount feature will see rides available at the rate of $3 per attraction from 5 to 10 p.m.. That evening, Fan Halen, a Van Halen cover band, is set to take the main stage at 8 p.m..

Friday elevates the excitement with a country theme. The schedule includes performances such as Kenny and Luke’s Country Beach Party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Dirt Road: The Jason Aldean Experience from 9 to 11 p.m. An opening ceremony will bring the community together at 8 p.m., featuring the national anthem sung by Miss Fountain Valley, followed by a lively dragon dance. A fireworks display is also slated for Friday night, and festival hours on this day will extend from 5 to 11 p.m. Additionally, Friday will feature a $5 beer and wine special.

  • Thursday: Opening night with discounts, rides open 5-10 p.m., performance at 8 p.m.
  • Friday: Country theme, performances, opening ceremony at 8 p.m., fireworks, extended hours 5-11 p.m.
  • Saturday: Event runs from 3-11 p.m.
  • Sunday: Final day with event hours from 2-8 p.m., featuring The Tijuana Dogs at 6 p.m.

Community Participation

The Summerfest also encourages community engagement, with local schools and entertainment acts showcasing their talents on a dedicated community stage throughout the weekend. Nonprofit organizations and community groups will have opportunities to set up food booths as a means of fundraising, contingent on prior application submission.

Attendance and Impact

With general admission priced at just $5 for individuals aged 5 and older, the festival maintains accessibility for families and community members. Free parking will be offered at the venue, facilitating convenience for attendees. Last month, a Summerfest review reflected that this year stands as one of the best in its history, boasting 15,839 attendees.

The festival organizers remain committed to being net-neutral, reinvesting any revenue generated back into future events. In 2022, the Summerfest saw $188,000 in ride revenue, marking it as the second highest after the record year amid pandemic restrictions. Such initiatives are in place to ensure ongoing community engagement and support local entertainment.

As the countdown to the Fountain Valley Summerfest continues, excitement grows for a weekend of fun, community spirit, and memorable experiences.
