A 21-year-old man from Orange, Nathan Ethan Avina, was arrested early Sunday morning for driving under the influence following a fatal collision with a pedestrian in Huntington Beach. The incident occurred shortly after midnight at the intersection of Atlanta Avenue and Delaware Street.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., police responded to multiple reports regarding a pedestrian lying unconscious in the intersection. Upon arrival, paramedics attempted to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead shortly after they arrived on the scene. The pedestrian was identified as a 35-year-old man from Huntington Beach.

Authorities reported that Avina was driving a black Audi RS5 eastbound on Atlanta Avenue when he struck the pedestrian. Police suspected impairment due to the circumstances surrounding the incident. Avina was arrested on-site without incident, and fortunately, he did not sustain any injuries.

The Huntington Beach Police Department has initiated an investigation into the collision, and the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is taking the lead on the ongoing inquiry. They are currently seeking any witnesses to the event or those who may have observed the moments leading up to the collision.
