A 21-year-old man from Orange, identified as Nathan Ethan Avina, has been arrested on suspicion of DUI following a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred early in the morning on July 6, 2025. The tragic incident left a 35-year-old man from Huntington Beach dead after he was struck by Avina’s vehicle.
The accident took place at approximately 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Atlanta Avenue and Delaware Street, located a few blocks west of Beach Boulevard. According to reports, Avina was driving a black Audi RS5 eastbound on Atlanta Avenue when he collided with the victim east of Delaware Street.
Immediately following the collision, law enforcement arrived on the scene and discovered the pedestrian unconscious on the roadway. Despite the rapid response of paramedics, who attempted to assist the victim, he was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
Avina, the driver of the Audi, did not sustain any injuries from the crash. He remained on the scene and was cooperative with authorities. Law enforcement has stated that impairment is suspected in relation to Avina’s condition at the time of the accident.
