This lease is reported to be the largest office lease transaction in Orange County in the past 15 years and is the largest ever in Costa Mesa.

The specific plans for the newly acquired facility, located at 3100 S. Harbor Blvd., have not been disclosed by Anduril. With this latest lease, the company now occupies a total of approximately 1.1 million square feet across Orange County, including about 72,000 square feet at the Shea Business Center in Santa Ana. This expansion aligns with Anduril’s strategic growth since its inception in 2017.

Harbor Logistics Center is part of the South Coast Technology Center project, which aims to provide light industrial space, corporate offices, research and development areas, manufacturing, and warehousing. The project includes three Class A industrial flex buildings totaling 313,000 square feet. Noteworthy improvements at the site will feature outdoor patios, landscaping, surface parking, electric vehicle charging stations, a community park, and enhancements to nearby streets and sidewalks.

Anduril Industries, founded by entrepreneur Palmer Luckey, operates several facilities across the United States and beyond. This expansion includes a significant project near Columbus, Ohio, where a 5-million-square-foot mega-factory is under construction. The facility is expected to begin producing weapons, sensors, and systems next year. Additional operations include a solid rocket motor factory in Mississippi, a robotic submarine facility in Rhode Island, a manufacturing plant in Georgia, a factory in Australia, and various production facilities in California.

Anduril’s growth trajectory is indicative of its rising prominence in the defense sector. The company initially operated from a modest building near John Wayne Airport before moving to its current campus, The Press, a former printing site of the Los Angeles Times, in Costa Mesa in 2022. The Press complex represents a broader development initiative aimed at transforming a former office complex into a multi-tenant industrial site.

The employment figures for Anduril also reflect its expansion. The company previously anticipated increasing its workforce from 400 employees to 700 by the end of 2021, with projections to reach 1,100 employees by the end of 2022. This growing workforce is supported by significant contracts with the Department of Homeland Security and the Air Force which provide substantial funding for its various projects.
