The opening aligns with other local developments, including new stores and community initiatives aimed at improving quality of life.

Orange County Welcomes New Tokyo Central Supermarket

Orange County is set to welcome a new Tokyo Central supermarket location, as the popular Japanese chain operated by Marukai Corp. prepares for its grand opening on the weekend of July 26-27, 2025. This new store will be the company’s third location in Orange County and marks the 13th store across the United States, adding to the 12 already in operation nationwide.

The new supermarket will be situated at 14120 Culver Drive, conveniently located near the southbound ramp to the 5 freeway and close to another well-known Japanese supermarket, Mitsuwa Marketplace. The store will encompass an area of 17,368 square feet, providing ample space for a diverse selection of products and customer amenities.

Tokyo Central’s offerings promise to satisfy a wide range of culinary preferences. The supermarket will stock pantry goods, fresh produce, various types of meat, and seafood, including options such as live fish, crabs, and lobsters. Customers will also find a diverse selection of made-to-order and ready-to-go food trays designed for quick and easy meals.

In addition to grocery items, shoppers can expect to discover a variety of health products, candy, household appliances, and kitchen tools. The Tokyo Central store will feature an in-store sushi restaurant, enhancing the shopping experience with freshly prepared Japanese cuisine on-site.

New Developments in the Area

The introduction of the Tokyo Central supermarket coincides with other notable developments in the local area. Sprouts Farmers Market has recently signed a lease for a 25,860-square-foot space at Bristol Warner Village in Santa Ana, set to replace a previously shuttered 99 Cents Only store. This new location is anticipated to open in late 2026 as part of an expansion endeavor by the property’s owners.

In community news, the Orange County United Way has reported a successful tax preparation program that has benefited local residents this tax season. The OC Free Tax Prep program assisted in preparing 13,751 tax returns and helped secure $14.8 million in refunds for individuals earning less than $67,000 in 2024. This initiative was made possible through collaboration with 22 local organizations that offered free tax filing assistance.

Community Engagement Activities

Pickleball Bash Tournament on July 19, 2025, aiming to raise funds to support its food delivery services for older adults in the community. This entertaining event reflects the commitment of local organizations to support vulnerable populations in the area.

Generous Donations and New Appointments

$50,000 to the Orange Police Department. This funding will be utilized to equip approximately half of the department’s patrol cars with defibrillators, enhancing emergency response capabilities.
