Costa Mesa – Costa Mesa High School celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2025 on Thursday, June 5, in a ceremony held at Mustang Field. The event brought together families and friends to honor the students as they concluded their high school careers and prepared to embark on their future endeavors.

The graduation ceremony is part of a larger series of graduation events taking place across the county, showcasing the achievements of local students. Just a week prior, on May 29, Newport-Mesa Unified School District’s Early College High School held its own graduation ceremony at Newport Harbor High School, where 51 students received their diplomas.

The Early College High School program, which allows students to accumulate college credits while still in high school, has proven to be highly beneficial. This year’s cohort of graduates completed an impressive average of 44 college units, equating to approximately 1.5 years of college education. Among the seniors graduating from the program, 35 students are set to attend four-year colleges and universities, while 14 will continue their education at two-year colleges.

The diversity of the graduating class is noteworthy, as they hail from seven different countries. This multicultural background is representative of the rich educational environment fostered at Early College High School. Additionally, 26 students earned California’s State Seal of Biliteracy, showcasing proficiency in both English and a second language.

The accomplishments of this year’s class extend beyond academics. A total of 37 graduates secured scholarships collectively valued at over $500,000, demonstrating their commitment to furthering their education. Community service also played a significant role in the graduates’ high school experiences, with nearly 40% of the students achieving more than 250 hours of service to their communities, an impressive statistic highlighting student engagement and responsibility.

Principal Dave Martinez of Early College High School praised the graduating class for their academic prowess and their active involvement in community service. He commended the students for their remarkable achievements over the past four years, noting that their collective efforts serve as an inspiration to the larger school community.

As graduation ceremonies continue across Mercer County, celebrations like the one at Costa Mesa High School not only recognize individual student achievements but also reflect the supportive community and educational framework that encourage academic and personal growth among students. Families, friends, and educators join in these ceremonies to not only celebrate graduation but also to look ahead at the possibilities that await these young individuals as they step into this new chapter of life.

The graduation ceremony at Costa Mesa High School is an important milestone for students, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Looking forward, these graduates will contribute to their communities and continue their education, influenced by the skills and values they have acquired during their high school years.
