JSX aircraft taking off at John Wayne Airport

News Summary

JSX, a public charter jet operator, has moved its operations to a new facility at John Wayne Airport, reflecting its growth and commitment to meet rising air travel demand in Orange County. The relocation follows years of planning and allows JSX to enhance service capabilities, introducing new routes to Salt Lake City and Napa County. With plans for hybrid-electric aircraft, JSX aims to reshape regional air travel and prioritize passenger experience and sustainability in its operations.

Irvine, California – JSX, a prominent public charter jet operator, has relocated its operations to a new facility at John Wayne Airport (JWA) on Airway Ave. The move, which was approved by the Orange County Board of Supervisors, follows three years of planning and signifies JSX’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for air travel in Orange County. The company previously operated from a facility managed by ACI Jet.

Since its inception in 2016 in Irvine, JSX has expanded its operations significantly. With the new facility at JWA, JSX aims to enhance its service capability, currently offering between 8 to 10 routes from this airport since it began operations there in 2018. As part of its expansion, JSX will introduce new public charter flights to Salt Lake City (SLC) and Napa County Airport (APC), set to begin on July 3.

The decision for relocation highlights JSX’s strategy to increase the number of unique destinations it serves from Orange County, with plans even exploring international routes in the future. John Wayne Airport saw a total of 11.1 million passengers in 2024, showing a 5.6% decrease from 2023. However, JSX contributes to the airport’s growth as total aircraft operations at JWA increased by 22.5%, totaling 334,554 operations.

JSX primarily uses Embraer 145 aircraft, recognized for being among the quietest jets operating at the airport. In an innovative leap, JSX has also become the first air carrier to place orders for up to 332 hybrid-electric aircraft from various manufacturers, including Electra, Aura Aero, and Heart Aerospace. The planned fleet expansion involves letters of intent for up to 82 of the 9-seat Electra eSTOL aircraft, 150 of the 19-seat Aura Aero Era, and 100 of the 30-seat Heart Aerospace ES-30, with expected delivery starting in 2028.

The hybrid-electric aircraft are designed to significantly minimize noise during takeoff and landing while being more energy-efficient than current models. JSX currently operates approximately 130 public charter flights daily to 26 different destinations across the United States, employing over 1,000 people.

JSX has made a name for itself by prioritizing convenience and passenger experience, allowing customers to check in as little as 20 minutes before their flight. The company is also known for its amenities, including complimentary checked baggage, WiFi, in-flight drinks, and snacks. CEO Alex Wilcox emphasizes the company’s dedication to providing sustainable air travel while enhancing convenience for travelers in Orange County.

Operating primarily in the southwestern United States, JSX seeks to establish itself as a responsible partner within the local aviation community as it expands its services. With its new facility, enhanced fleet plans, and commitment to customer comfort and sustainability, JSX is poised to reshape regional air travel and address the evolving needs of passengers in and around Orange County.
