Costa Mesa to Host 4th Annual Beckman Arts and Science Family Festival
The Beckman Arts and Science Family Festival is set to return for its fourth year on May 31, offering a range of free activities for families in Orange County. The festival will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza located within the Segerstrom Center for the Arts at 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa.
This annual event aims to highlight the connections between arts and science, making it an engaging experience for children and families. A variety of activities are planned, including live performances, hands-on science experiments, interactive art-making stations, and engaging exhibits. Children will have the opportunity to build mini robots, conduct colorful chemical reactions, and even hold real fossils.
This year, attendees can look forward to new attractions such as free mini train rides around the Segerstrom Center campus, balloon twisters, and a bubble play area. Entertainment will feature a range of performances, including a land acknowledgment and blessing by the Journeys To The Past Native American family ensemble, musical comedy from The Alley Cats, hoop dance by N8tive Hoop, and STEM concepts delivered through hip hop music by Music Notes LLC. Circus performers from Circo Etereo will also be present to entertain attendees throughout the event.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase at George’s Café and from various local food trucks. Festival attendees are also permitted to bring their own refreshments, except for alcohol, glass containers, tables, barbecues, and food preparation items.
The event is made possible through a partnership between the Segerstrom Center for the Arts and the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation. Several community organizations will participate, including Bionerds, Brain Builders STEM Education, Girls Inc. of Orange County, Santa Ana Zoo, and Pacific Marine Mammal Center, among others.
